JOHN (JACK) WILLIAM BERKOWSKI
Born: Sep 15, 1964
Date of Passing: May 15, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN (JACK) WILLIAM BERKOWSKI September 15, 1964 - May 15, 2005 It is with profound sadness we announce the tragic and accidental passing of Jack Berkowski, on Sunday, May 15, 2005. Left to mourn his passing are his partner Carrie Ferris and family; brother Bob; sister Rae Anne (Blair); nieces and nephews, Julie Badger (Drew), Jackie, Ben (Sarah), Bob (Tracy); great-nephews, Dylan, Hayden, Brayden and Grady; and a large extended family. Jack was predeceased by his mother Janet in 2002; and father Robert in 2004. Jack's early years were in Weston, Gimli and the West End. He graduated from TecVoc High School and attended Red River College. Jack worked at Burns Meats for a number of years before training in multi-media arts, leading to positions with Convergys and more recently, Fineline Solutions. He made many friends wherever he worked and played. Modest, Jack down-played his talents in art and singing, but was drawn to stand-up comedy. He represented Winnipeg in Yuk-Yuk's national amateur competitions in 1990 and 1991. Up until a few years ago, he was a regular host at Rumor's Comedy Club, did various gigs and then performed with the 5 Winnipeg Comics at the Fringe Festival in 2002, 2003 and 2004. His unique interpretation of life's events drew praise from the critics, respect from his peers and embarrassed laughter from his family and friends. We were all proud of his accomplishments. Jack was known to family, friends and coworkers for his loving, gentle and caring nature. His humour could quickly light up a room and diffuse tense situations. A celebration of Jack's life will be held on Wednesday, May 25 at 1:00 p.m. in Weston Gospel Church, 1787 Logan Ave., with Pastor Alan Duncalfe officiating. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's memory may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation, 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3J2. Still thinking about you to this day Jack. You were one of the best managers I had and I still carry all of those times we spent talking and laughing. - Posted by: TIM SANDISON (Co-Worker (Convergys)) on: May 08, 2018

I just wanted to say that Jack was an amazing guy. He would always have a funny joke and could say something witty at work which would make everyone laugh. Watching him at Rumors Comedy club was a treat, he was a great opening act and was able to change his material so every time there was a new joke or two. What a great guy, and is missed. - Posted by: James McCombe (Friend) on: Apr 13, 2016

Jack was without doubt the best reason to drag my butt into work. He could expose the bright side to any situation and was always prepared to sit down and talk about anything if it made you feel better. He was a compassionate man that put others before himself. It's not often a manager will leave a positive lasting impression, but I will never forget him. He was a heck of a funny guy and I know he'll be missed. - Posted by: CJ (Friend) on: May 26, 2005
