DONALD EARLE DERBYSHIRE Peacefully on Wednesday, May 18, 2005, Don passed away at St. Boniface Hospital, with his family at his side. Don leaves to mourn his loving wife of 39 years June; his son Greg (Liz); and grandchildren, Rachel, Emily and Robbie Derbyshire of Brantford, ON; his sister Verlyn (William) Morris of Comber, ON; and many nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his parents, Erline and Earle Derbyshire, and his brother Mervyn (Mike) Derbyshire. He was born in Wheatley, ON, but grew up in Windsor, ON. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War and on his return went to work for Union Gas in Windsor until moving to Winnipeg in 1960. In Winnipeg he worked for Steel Structures and Engineered Products, buying the latter company and operating it until his retirement. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Fort Rouge Branch No. 90. Don spent many years at the cottage on Lake of the Woods and it was the happiest time in his life. Don and June have spent their winters in Florida for a good many years; living in Largo and enjoying the sun and surf at Indian Rocks Beach. Don will be sadly missed by his many friends both here and in the United States. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and staff on MICU and Palliative Care for their care and kindness during his short illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation. Cremation has taken place and at Don's request there will be no service.
