AGLAIA VONEA With great sadness we announce that Aglaia Vonea passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre on May 18, 2005. Aglaia is survived by her daughter Lavinia (Dinu) Paraschiv, grandson Christopher, all of Winnipeg and her brother Vladimir (Etta) Petcu in Lugoj, Romania. She was predeceased by her husband Victor in 1999. Aglaia was born January 2, 1933, in Basarabia (then Romania). She was the second child of Valentina and Sergiu Petcu. Aglaia and Victor married in 1956 after their graduation from Academy of Economic Sciences in Bucharest, moving to Oradea, Victor's home. Aglaia had a 30-year career as an economist with the Crisana Institute of Film Distribution, retiring in 1986 to care for Victor. Aglaia came to Canada in 2000 to live with her daughter and family. With lots of energy and a positive and happy spirit, she enjoyed running the household for the family. She made many new friends at St. Demetrios Romanian Orthodox Church and the Rady Centre ESL classes. Her family will miss her guidance and counsel, and will treasure many happy memories of their home together in Winnipeg. We love you and miss you, Bunica. The family would like to thank the very kind staff at the Victoria General Hospital and Riverview Health Centre. Prayers will be held on Monday, May 23 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 24 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Demetrios Romanian Orthodox Church, 103 Furby St. Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Aglaia's memory to St. Demetrios Romanian Orthodox Church or to a charity of one's choice. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
