Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARLENE SHEWCHUK May 19, 1939 - May 19, 2005 Marlene passed away peacefully at the High River Hospital, with her loving husband of 47 years, Laurel, by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. She is fondly remembered by her sister, Sharon Mullaney (Paddy), her nephews, Ryan Mullaney (Stacey), their daughters, Siobhan and Breanna, Curtis Shewchuk (Jennie), Dave Shewchuk (Tammy), her niece, Riley Gettens (Grant), their son Chay, her sister-in-law, Gladys Mark (Harold), her brothers-in-law, Barry Shewchuk (Sylvia) and Wayne Shewchuk (Charlotte), her special cousin, Eileen Roberts (Bruce), and her mother-in-law Ethel Shewchuk. She was predeceased by her parents, Percy and Mary Martin and her father-in-law, Marvin Shewchuk. Marlene was a dedicated teacher for 35 years. The many letters of thanks expressed by her former English students, are a testament to her skill and success in her chosen profession. She was an artist and musician. She spent countless hours directing musical productions, show choirs and adult dinner theatre. Her needlework and paintings provided hours of relaxed enjoyment. Curling and golf provided a wonderful outlet of her boundless energy. Ten years of retirement allowed her to spend her winters at the Rio Bend RV Park in California where a whole new circle of wonderful friends were enjoyed immensely. Their generosity at her farewell party was something she never forgot. Flowers are respectfully declined. Memorial donations in Marlene's name may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. A private celebration of Marlene's life is being held with members of Marlene's immediate family.
