LENA MARGARET NEWTON On Thursday, May 19, 2005, Lena Margaret (Downey) Newton passed away at the age of 92 years at the Lions Prairie Manor, Portage la Prairie, MB. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 25 at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in the family plot at Rossendale Cemetery. Lena was predeceased by her husband Sidney Ward Newton in 1993 and her son Lyle Ward Newton in 1998. Lena leaves to mourn one sister Evelyn McLeod of Winnipeg, two sisters-in-law, Vivian Downey and Betty Downey; one son Wayne (Betty) of Edmonton; daughter-in-law Marlene Newton-Sevenko of Peachland; six grandchildren, Michelle (Troy), Renee and Michael of British Columbia, Cameron, Craig (Barb), Chad (Sheri) of Edmonton, AB; seven great-grandchildren, Ryan, Brandon and Darien of Surrey, BC, Christopher, Kira, Connor and Kyle of Edmonton; several nieces, nephews, and of course all of her friends. The family would like to thank the staff of the Lion's Prairie Manor for taking such good care of Lena and to her nieces, Janice Kelly, Myrtle Lang, and Beverly Asham for their help in the past.
