IRENE LEGAL (RELKE) (nee PLOUFFE) November 18, 1925 - May 20, 2005 It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother and grandmother Irene Legal on Friday, May 20, 2005 at the age of 79 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Renee Johnson, Judy Blood (Russ), Bruce Relke (Joan); daughter-in-law Kathi Relke; and grandchildren, Candace, Todd and Crystal (Johnson), Michelle Myden (Garet), Jim (Blood), Curtis and Kyle (Relke), Chris (Bobbi), Michael and Laura (Relke); and great-granddaughter Paige Myden. She is also survived by her brother Henry Plouffe and several nieces and nephews. Irene was the widow of Albert Legal (1995) and was predeceased by her first husband Jack Relke (1973), her son Lorne Relke (2001) and her son-in-law Barry Johnson (1997). A nursing orderly during the Second World War, Irene later returned to Red River College and became a childcare worker at the University of Winnipeg until her retirement. A loving mother and grandmother, our Nana was a talented homemaker and keen hockey and football fan. Her hobbies included sewing, baking, home decorating, shopping and meeting her friends for dinner. Everyone who met her was attracted to her sense of humour, kindness, and loving personality. Remaining very independent despite recent health concerns, her faith and trust in God carried her through many difficult times. A celebration of Irene's life will be held on Friday, May 27 at 1:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
