SHIRLEY LEPAGE (nee ORESTES) Peacefully, on May 21, 2005, Shirley LePage passed away at the Riverview Health Centre at the age of 71 years. The beloved wife of John, together for over 46 years, Shirley is also survived by her son Parry and his wife Sheri; granddaughters Adara and Melodie and her brother Mel Orestes and his wife Helen. Shirley was predeceased by her parents Parry and Peggy Orestes. After bravely battling a fatal illness, she faced the eventual outcome with grace and dignity. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of the 5A wing of the Health Sciences Centre and the 3 East Palliative Care Ward of the Riverview Health Centre for their dedication and excellent care of Shirley. Throughout her entire life, Shirley was extremely house-proud, believing in the adage that Cleanliness is next to Godliness. Her many talents included the ability to sew, crochet, knit and needle-point. Shirley was particularly skilled in the exacting art of Petit-Point. Shirley was a beautiful lady and because of her natural beauty, Shirley never required cosmetics. She expressed her love of flowers by having a beautifully landscaped garden to which her husband joyfully attended. Among her greatest joys was becoming the grandmother to two loveable girls. She was also very pleased with her son for earning his Bachelor of Education degree and a Post Baccalaureate Diploma in Education. The funeral service and reception will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 26, in Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Riverview Palliative Care Foundation would be gratefully accepted. THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 669 Broadway - 783-7211

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • To the Lepage family, I was a nurse on A5 at Health Sciences who cared for Shirley. I have since moved and was unable to express my condolences to the family. Shirley was a beautiful woman with such a positive attitude. She had a smile on her face every day even though she endured much physical and emotional pain. She was a pleasure to care for and a wonderful person to get to know. Her husband was such a help to Shirley at this time....such devotion and love. My prayers go out to you and your family. Sincerely, Lynn Roberts - Posted by: Lynn (Friend) on: Jun 03, 2005

  • My deceased Mom, Anne Woloshyn, would have liked to let your family know how highly she thought of Shirley, you John and the Orestes. Mom worked for your family at the Paddock Restaurant many years ago and her son-in-law was also John LePage who was married to my sister. She spoke often of her wonderful days there before she died. I am sorry about the loss of your wonderful wife . - Posted by: Vicky C. Borgstrom (Acquaintance) on: May 25, 2005
