MARY FREEDMAN Mary Freedman died on May 22, 2005 in the Sharon Home, Simkin Centre. She was 92. She was born Mary Kaplan in Winnipeg on November 21, 1912. Her husband was Ben Freedman, who died in 1989. She was also predeceased by her daughter Saundra, brothers, Sam, Max and Sidney; and a sister Betty Wolch. She is survived by her children, Adele and David; her sister Ziona Levin, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She is fondly remembered for her hospitable, peace-loving nature, her skill as a homemaker, her community spirit. She loved life. Funeral services will be held at Congregation Etz Chayim, 123 Matheson E., on Wednesday, May 25 at 11:00 a.m.. Burial will take place at Rosh Pina Memorial Park, 2795 Main St., West Kildonan, with shiva to follow at 314 Queenston St. Donations in Mary's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald, or a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the nurses and aides at Sharon Home, Dr. Grant Benningan, companions Sue Perchaluk and Carmen Viagedor, and special friend Betty Tungala.
