LEE LENA WILSON (FINDLAY) (KORLENCHUCK)
Born: Mar 28, 1930
Date of Passing: May 21, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEE LENA WILSON (FINDLAY) (nee KORLENCHUCK) It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved wife and mother, Lee Wilson at her home on May 21, 2005. Left to miss her terribly are her husband of 22 years Don; daughter Darlene (Barry); stepdaughter Susan; family friend Jane Tully; and childhood friend Anne (Ron) Truesdale of British Columbia. Lee is also survived by her brother Johnny Korlenchuk; sisters, Marg Best and Ann (Charlie) Kline; sister-in-law Betty Carroll; aunts, uncles of Ontario and Saskatchewan; and numerous nephews, family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Steve and Mary Korlenchuck; brother Bill; sister Sylvia (Paisley) Dickie; sister-in-law Fay Korlenchuk; brother Jake; and stepson Fred. Lee was born on March 28, 1930 in Canora, SK, the youngest of seven siblings. She spent her early years in Yorkton, SK where her parents owned a grocery store/livery stable. Her mother later decided to move herself, her seven children, pet cat and two pet ducks to Winnipeg. Once there, the family settled into a house in Point Douglas. In her younger years Lee was involved with the Young Girls in Training Program; a local gun club (a sport at which she excelled until her mother told her that she should be going to church on Sundays and not firing guns!); performing the Irish Jig on St. Patrick's Day at Winnipeg City Hall; horseback riding; and generally having fun following her older siblings around! She developed close, lifelong friendships with many girlfriends that remain today. Lee started her varied work career at a young age. She was employed as an usher at the Odeon Theatre in Winnipeg; a dental assistant; receptionist; the first female insurance claims adjuster in Winnipeg and later Toronto; and was especially proud of her lengthy career with the Province of Manitoba Department of Education, Teacher's Certification Branch from which she was able to retire in 1983. She made many friends at this workplace and had many fond memories. Lee was a very gentle and kind person. She was also very generous, both with her heart and with possessions. She had a tender spot in her heart for animals, especially the cats . At a young age she developed her own special spirituality and this belief helped her through many tough times. Lee's happiest and most fulfilling years were the ones that she shared with her husband, Don. They enjoyed many wonderful times together in her beloved Peony Farm. They were both members of the Portage Legion as well as the Seniors Club . Don and Lee were able to do some travelling, of special happy memories are the trips they made to Vegas with friends and family and weekends at the cottage . In keeping with Lee's wishes, there will be a private family memorial service. If friends so desire donations can be made in Lee's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9. Gone, but never forgotten . A tree will be planted and cared for in memory of Lee by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel who are in care of arrangements. 857-4021 www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com

Anne & Lee were childhood friends, going back to the Point Douglas area where they met while Lee was looking for her cat. They became instant friends, which lasted until they were both in their 70s. Our sincere condolences to Don & Darlene & the family. "Good friends are forever" - Posted by: Anne & Ron TRUESDALE (Friend) on: May 25, 2005
