MURRAY LESLIE FIRMAN Peacefully, on May 19, 2005, Murray Leslie Firman passed away at the age of 69 after a lengthy illness at the Poseidon Care Centre. Murray is survived by his beloved wife Joan of 46 years; his sister-in-law Anna Firman; nephews, David (Gail) and Stewart; niece Katherine Van Leeuwen (Barry); sister-in-law Alice and brother-in-law Andrew Lutz; nephews, Robert (Barb), Douglas (Mallory); and many cousins and friends. Murray was predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Anne Firman and brother Stanley. Murray married his neighbour and high school sweetheart Joan in 1958. He had a great passion for travelling and arranged his own itineraries to the various countries in the world. He made numerous trips with Joan to Europe and also visited relatives in Poland. They travelled extensively in the United States while living in California from 1962-66. Their trips also included the Scandinavian countries, Hong Kong, Egypt, Bali, India, New Zealand, Australia as well as South America. In latter years they spent a considerable time on the big island of Hawaii. Murray had a great love of trains and worked for the C.P.R. During this time he furthered his education by obtaining a B. Ed at the University of Manitoba. He later completed his Master's Degree (M. Ed) and also a Diploma in Industrial Arts from the Bemidji State College. He taught industrial arts at St. John's Technical High and completed his teaching career at Aberdeen School. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jain, nurses, aides and all other staff at the Poseidon Centre for their compassionate care of Murray. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be at a later date. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 27 in the Friendship Room at the Poseidon Care Centre, 70 Poseidon Bay at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Janet E. Walker officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Murray may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6 or to a charity of your choice.
