Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELLEN (NELL) ELIZABETH MCBURNEY (nee LEACH) Peacefully on Saturday, May 21, 2005 with family by her side, Ellen McBurney passed away at the age of 88. Ellen was predeceased by her beloved husband John Wesley McBurney in 1980 and by her son-in-law Ted Dronzek in 1994. Ellen was born in Winnipeg and over the years taught Sunday school and volunteered at local hospitals as the toy lady . She enjoyed winter travel down to Texas with her husband and warm summers spent with her daughter and grandchildren. Ellen loved to crochet and especially loved to putter in her gardens. She loved nature and all its beauty and at the young age of 65 she learned to drive which enabled her to go to her summer home at Winnipeg Beach that she dearly loved. She was a loving and supportive mother and grandmother. Her family will miss her guidance and her strength. She leaves to mourn her daughter Ellen and her grandchildren, Susan (Gary), Michelle (Jeff), (great-granddaughter Christine), Dean (Penny). A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 27 at 4:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Interment will follow in Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley St. Special thanks to the Victoria General Hospital and the Deer Lodge Centre.
