MARGUERITE FORD WOOD Peacefully, after a long illness, Marguerite Wood passed away on May 25, 2005. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Ethel Day and her sister Ruby Stancove. Marguerite leaves to mourn, her beloved husband of 50 years, George Wood; her children, Sherri (Larry Vilk), Ford; grandsons, Spencer and Jordan; siblings, Vera (Ben) Kelter, Georgia (Ernie) Tooth, Lois Ertle, Muriel Haas, and Ed (Betty) Day; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Marg was born in Ford City, Pennsylvania on June 2, 1924. She moved to Newfoundland at an early age and completed her schooling there. Eventually moving to Winnipeg, Marg met and married George, and together they had two children. They moved from Winnipeg to Burlington and then to Tillsonburg, ON before moving to Coquitlam, BC. They relocated back to Winnipeg for a few years before moving to Burnaby, BC. From Burnaby, Marg and George moved to Waterloo, ON and then to Australia for two years. They moved back to Waterloo, and then to Cambridge, ON. In 1977, they moved to Winnipeg to retire. During those retirement years Marg loved to travel - she and George went to Australia for winter holidays, or to Arizona or California. Some of her favourite memories were her vacations. A devoted wife and mother, Marg loved spending time with her family. Throughout her difficult illness, she maintained her sense of humour and dignity. The family would like to thank Marg's Home Care Worker Marnie and the staff of Five West at Deer Lodge Hospital for their wonderful care. A memorial service celebrating Marg's life will be held on Monday, May 30 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Rev. Bruce Faurschou officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Marg's memory be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6. You're always in our thoughts - thanks for the great memories CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044

  • Sherri and Larry Robert and I were so sorry to hear of your mother's death. We know that her lungs had been failing for years, but it is always different when the end comes. One of the messages I received when Dad died probably holds some truth for you too: Our parents drive us crazy, and when they pass, we miss them terribly. We are in England on the day of the funeral, but our thoughts will be with you. Love, Jo-Anne and Robert - Posted by: Jo-Anne and Robert McDowall (Friend) on: May 29, 2005
