All, especially Gwen his wife of 57 years, will lovingly remember Ab. He will be greatly missed by his children, Diane (Wally Kasian), Sandra (Bob Jones), Dale (Jim) Bridgman, Dave (Linda), Ken (Gail), Cheryl, Nancy (Manuel) Sousa, Raymond (Ivy), Casey (Roberta), Lori (Ismael) Peters, Sheila (John) Bakkum, Gary (Tracy); Ab's brothers, George (Lillian), Allan (Maria); sister Shirley (Geo) Freill, brother in-law Hilare Vanderkerkhove and sister in-law Barbara; as well as his 36 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. His parents, Harry and Mary; sisters, Alice and Eileen; brother Gordon and grandsons, Jeffrey and Marcel predeceased Ab. Dad was born at home and grew up in Fort Garry. He was employed at Canada Cement for 35 years until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of The Fort Garry Legion Branch 90. Ab and Gwen moved to Petersfield in 1984 where they lived for many years and developed many long-term friendships. Dad enjoyed his time renovating their homes, working in the yard and spending time with his family and friends. Dad and Mom recently moved to Selkirk in November 2004. We would like to thank all the staff at Selkirk General Hospital and Palliative Care. A very special thanks is extended to Dr. N. Antenenko who made Ab's last days comfortable. At Ab's request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Earl Grey Community Centre, 340 Cockburn St., on Saturday, May 28 at 1:00 p.m. Our special thanks to Rev. Julie Collings for presiding over the service for Dad. In lieu of flowers, in Albert's memory, blood donations to the Canadian Blood may be made or a donation to a charity of your choice.

I will always remember Uncle Ab as a very soft spoken gentle man, I was so pleased to see him in March when I was there with my family. I am so glad that his love of the mountains and to see them was fulfilled one last time in January. To my Aunt and all my cousins our thoughts and prayers are with you at this very difficult time. We love you Uncle Ab and will miss you. Love Robbie and Family - Posted by: Robbie Goodwin (Family) on: Jun 04, 2005
