PHYLLIS FRAYER It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother. Phyllis passed away peacefully at the Golden Door Geriatric Centre on Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at the age of 82. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughter, Verna, husband Doug Danylchuk, their children, Erin and Ian. Her nephew David Frayer, wife Jane, children, Kevin (Janice) and Chris (Miriam) and son Issac. She will also be missed by her stepdaughters, Audrey (Len Barnert), Shirley Radul (Boyle), Marion Rae (Ken Harder) and their many children and grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents, Richard (1957) and Wilhemina (1959) Maddess; her brother Campbell (1985); her sister Thelma (1989); and her husband Vernon (1960). Phyllis enjoyed a long and full life. She grew up and attended school in St. Charles, after graduation went on to earn a teaching certificate from Normal School. Over the years she taught in many Manitoba schools, including Ochre River, Swan River, Ellen Douglas, Lord Roberts, Crestview, Lakewood, Linwood, Lincoln, Heritage, to name a few. After retirement her love for teaching continued she volunteered with Oak Hammock Marsh Interpretative Centre. She also spent time with Habitat for Humanity, St. Chad's Ladies Auxiliary, Retired Women Teachers Association, Thelma Wynn and many more. She was able to travel with her friends seeing many of the places that she had taught her students about. She had fond memories of Lawai Beach Resort in Kawai. We would like to thank her many friends, especially Stella and Jose, who made her last years enjoyable and comfortable. Thanks also go to the amazing staff at The Golden Door Geriatric Centre for attending to her needs in the most respectful manner. Dr. Jayne and the staff on 3 North also deserve thanks for the support they provided. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Winnipeg, Unit 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 or CancerCare Manitoba, ON1160 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 30 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Chad's Anglican Church, 3390 Portage Ave. Viewing will begin one half hour before the service. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
