Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUSSELL SAWCHUK It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Russell Frederick Sawchuk, aged 73 years, of Selkirk, our loving and caring husband, father, father-in-law, Gigi, brother and uncle, at the Selkirk District General Hospital on Friday, May 27, 2005 with his family at his side. Russell was born on May 4, 1932 at St. Andrews, MB and grew up and attended school at Rossdale, MB. He worked at the Manitoba Rolling Mills for many years retiring in 1990. He enjoyed bowling, baseball, word search puzzles, working in his garden and daily coffee breaks with his friends, as well as trips to the States and casinos. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 52 years, Chris; daughter Kendra of Gillam; daughter-in-law Elsie (Lorraine); three grandsons, Keith, Perry and Gary, grand-daughter Trisha, which were his pride and joy; two brothers, Tony and Donnie of Winnipeg; sister Anne Kozan of Selkirk, sister Diane Olmstead (Jack) of Calgary; and in-laws, Donna Pochinko of Langley, BC and John Bukoski of Beausejour; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Russell was predeceased by son Cory in November of 2003; his parents, Phillip and Mary; sister Pauline and Walter Nieradka of Calgary; brother-in-law Fred Kozan and sister-in-law Nettie Sawchuk. Also his in-laws, Mike and Annie Pochinko, Jim and Eva Pochinko, Lawrence and Richard Pochinko and Marlene Bukoski, and nephew Kevin Bukoski. Prayers will be said on Sunday (tonight) at 6:30 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, May 30 at 10:00 a.m. in the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Selkirk with Fr. Peter Chorney officiating. Interment in the All Saints Cemetery, Rivercrest, MB. His pallbearers will Fred Geisler, Glenn Kozan, Ralph Girling and grandsons, Keith, Perry and Gary Sawchuk. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit, SDGH, 100 Hospital Dr., Selkirk R1A 2M2. Many thanks to Dr. Fuchs, the caring nurses, the palliative care coordinator, Connie, and the home care nurses, especially, Sandy. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
