EMILY SHAPKO December 9, 1930 - May 27, 2005 On May 27, 2005 at St. Boniface Hospital after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer, Emily passed away at the age of 74. Emily will be sadly missed by her daughter Shelley (Shapko-Lamont) and her husband David; her grandsons, Sean and Parker; her brother Anton Sawka of Canora, SK; and many cousins and friends. Emily was predeceased by her husband George in 1997. Emily's greatest pleasure was people. Her pride and joy were her two grandsons that she loved to see whenever she could. She would always have time to talk to a friend or do a favour to help someone out. Emily liked nothing better than to tell a story or a joke so she could bring someone laughter. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 1 at 1:30 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Interment to follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the doctors, nurses and friends who worked to make Emily comfortable. So when tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart. For every time you think of me I'm right here in your heart. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Cancer Foundation.
