SANDRA MARLENE ROSILEEN DITZ 1954 - 2005 Our Shining Star It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Sandra Marlene Rosileen Ditz on Thursday, May 26, 2005, mother of two boys and a friend to all whose good fortune it was to have known her. She was a woman with a deep, abiding faith in God, an optimistic, positive outlook on life, an almost ethereal love for her children and a genuine respect for her home and extended family. She had a love of gardening, cooking, entertainment, cleanliness, humour, laughter, family and neighbours. She was a pillar of faith which she instilled in her boys. Her home was her haven, where she found tranquility and comfort. In a nutshell, she had a tremendous love of community. Sandra was born on February 18, 1954 at Shoal Lake Hospital within the district called Rogers. This was the original homestead of Sandra's parents and grandparents. She completed her elementary education (1960 to 1967) at Oakburn, MB and completed her high school education (1968 to 1972) at Rossburn, MB. Thereafter, she attained gainful employment in 1972 to present with the Government of Canada, Taxation Division. Young Sandra and her family worshipped at the Ukrainian Catholic of St. John The Baptist at Dolyny, MB where her body will be laid for its final resting place. Her cremated remains will rest on top of her father's grave. In Winnipeg, she and her family worshipped at the St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Parish where she was an active parishioner and a member of the Ukrainian Women's Catholic League. Sandra was predeceased by her father Michael in 1991 and her Dutka and Ditz grandparents. She leaves to mourn her passing her sons, Adrian and Kevin. Also surviving is her mother Anne; her brothers, Lionel, Robert (Arlene), Jeffery (Kimberley), Kelly; her sisters, Connie, Barbara (Bruce), Deborah, Maxine (Kevin), Claudia (Henry); nieces, Lindsay, Laura and Nicole; nephews, Michael, Wesley and Alexander. Special thanks to all the staff of D6 of the Health Science Centre, CancerCare Manitoba, and Riverview Health Centre. Father A. McVay of St. Nick's Parish performed a special service of prayer and panachyda on May 27 for Sandra before her cremation. Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 31 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 455 Douglas, North Kildonan and again on June 11 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John The Baptist Church at Dolyny when her cremated remains will be laid to rest. The Celebrant of both services is Rev. Canon Walter Klimchuk. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Sandra may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, ON 109-675 McDermot Avenue, R3E 0V9. My mom fought a battle she could not win now she is in heaven free of sin. O I wish so much you were here but I know when I pray you'll open your ears. We didn't have a lot of time together you remain in our hearts forever and ever. How much I don't want to write this poem because of your brothers and sisters I am never alone. All I want is another hug and kiss your beautiful smile I sure will miss As my tears roll down my eye I think about the time when we said good-bye I just watched helpless as you lay in bed, and press my soft lips upon your head. All this pain you didn't deserve It's weird how life can throw a curve. I know you're in heaven smiling down you're my Queen and deserve the crown. #1 Mom that's all I can say please please mom don't go away. Forever in my mind is where you'll stay and we will talk every night when I pray Until the day we meet again no one else will ever be my best friend You gave so much just to feel your touch Would make our day You remain in heaven and that's where you must stay. Love always, Adrian Vichnaya Pahmyaht KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson-North of McIvor-338-0331

It is with great sadness that we hear about the passing of Sandy. My memories of Sandy are of great laughter, joy and silly pranks which we shared during our time at Oakburn Elementary. May your strong faith help you get past these painful days and Sandy's memory put a smile on your face as you start another day without her. God Bless her two sons and the entire Ditz family. - Posted by: Darlene and Larry Luhowy (Friend) on: Jun 02, 2005
