MARGARET HYNDS OSTWALD (KERR) February 6, 1916 - May 22, 2005 It is with great sadness and yet with wonderful memories that her children would like to announce that our MOM passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2005. God saw that she was tired and reached out His hand to her. She was predeceased by her brother Edward and her former husband Henry. She is survived by her brother Donald (Kay), sister-in-law Charlotte and numerous nieces and nephews. Left to cherish her memory are her five children, Donna Vancouver, Bill (Tina) Marquette, Michigan, Gary (Connie) Denver, Colorado, Rob Port Alberni, Janice (Patrick) Nanaimo; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Margaret was born in Estevan, SK, and moved to Winnipeg at an early age. As a stay-at-home Mom, she raised five children who she was immensely proud of. Throughout her life, she was actively involved in the Order of the Eastern Star in Winnipeg and served as Worthy Matron and Grand Chaplain. Margaret visited her family frequently in BC and finally made the move in 1992 to beautiful Nanaimo. She was a very busy and productive woman who enjoyed life to the fullest and was always up for a new adventure. Margaret was active in her new community being involved in the Eastern Star, St. James Anglican Church and Bowen's Seniors. She also attended Spanish classes, cancer dressings, Heart Fit, Bridge, Nanaimo Symphony and loved the Ballet. Most recently she spent three weeks in Maui with her family. A celebration of Margaret's life will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2005, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., at Sands Funeral Home, #1 Newcastle Ave., Nanaimo, BC. Flowers gratefully declined, donations can be made to the Heart Stroke Fund in her memory.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • It wasn't until I attended the Grand Chapter of Manitoba that I learnt of Margaret's death. She was a very special person and I enjoyed her friendship through the Order of the Eastern Star in both Manitoba and B.C. Very many friends spoke of her with love at Grand Chapter in Manitoba and tears fell for her at the Memorial Service for all our Sisters and Brothers who have passed to the Grand Chapter on High. Margaret - we remember you with love and will greatly miss you. God Bless. - Posted by: Valeria Cowie (Friend) on: Jun 04, 2005
