Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGARNET PALMER BEACH Garnet Palmer Beach died suddenly at Saint Boniface Hospital on Tuesday, May 24, 2005. Born in Ernfold, SK on August 24, 1922, Garnet was one of eleven children of Floria and James Palmer Beach. Garnet spent his childhood on the family farm. He attended the University of Saskatchewan (Saskatoon), and graduated from Civil Engineering in 1946. After a long career with the Canadian Pacific Railway and the Federal Transport Commission he retired in 1985. Garnet's lifelong passion was Hereford cattle, and for the past 40 years he spent as much time as possible at his farm in Woodlands, MB. Throughout his life he was committed to social justice issues and was a strong supporter and active worker with the World Federalists. Garnet married Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Fisher in 1948. They lived in a variety of places across Western Canada, and since 1959 have made Winnipeg their family home. Their son Michael died in 1980. Garnet is survived by his wife Betty and their daughters, Kathie (Fred), Susan (Oliver), Janet; and his grandchildren, Conor, Shawna, Ashley, Bridget, Jamie, Ian, Martha, Michael and Oliver. He also leaves his brothers and sisters, Horace, Norman, Joy, Homer, Pauline, Dorothy and Orland. Brothers, Dexter, Paul and Royal predeceased him. A memorial service honouring Garnet's life will be held on Monday, May 30 at 11:00 a.m. at the Unitarian Church, 603 Wellington Cres. The family would like to extend thanks to Saint Boniface Hospital Emergency Team and the medical intensive care unit. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to a charity of your choice.
