RAYMOND (BUTCH) DOUGLAS Suddenly, at his residence in Miami, MB Raymond Clifford Douglas passed away at the age of 48. He leaves to mourn his three daughters, Shauna Hewitt (Chris), Jody Oakes (Dale) and Brandi Douglas; as well as grandsons, Benjamin and Connor. He also leaves to mourn his mother Leah Douglas, sister Joyce (John), brother Les (Kylee), brother Ryan (Michelle), brother-in-law Darrel Peterson, numerous nieces and nephews, ex-wife Audrey Douglas and close friend Jennifer Spencer. He was predeceased by his father James in 1993 and sister Julie in 1995. Raymond was born on October 16, 1956 in Moose Jaw, SK to Jim and Leah Douglas. At the age of two his dad nicknamed him Butch and it stuck with him throughout his life. Although the family made several moves during his childhood, Miami was the place Butch considered home. He began his working life in Gimli with Saunders Aircraft. After his marriage in 1975, he returned to Miami and began employment with the UGG elevator in Rosebank. From there he worked as a carpenter with the Miami and later the Carman Co-ops. He was offered employment with the RM of Thompson in 1979 and remained with them until the present. Throughout the years Butch gained knowledge of many skills. He had an amazing talent for carpentry and he had the gift to master any trade he put his hand to. He took pride in all the projects he accomplished over the years, be it building, repairing and especially gardening. Until recent years, Butch was a longtime member of the Miami Fire Department, serving several years as Deputy Chief. He also took a great deal of pride in his role in securing and installing the artificial ice in the Miami Curling Rink. He served as term president and enjoyed many years as an avid curler. Butch was always willing to lend his time and talents to others, especially his girls as they set up house. Despite his personal struggles, Butch found his greatest joy in his three daughters and two grandsons. He was extremely proud of everything that his girls have become as grown women. He will be sadly missed by all who loved him. Be at peace Butchie. Funeral service will be held from the Miami United Church in Miami on Monday, May 30 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Debra Orton officiating. Interment will be in the Miami Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined, if friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba, 1031 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3G 0R8. Doyle's Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements. (www.doyleschapels.com).
