ANNE CHUDD It is with deepest sorrow that the family of Anne Chudd (nee Oko) announce her peaceful passing, surrounded by her loving family, on May 27, 2005 at the Gimli Community Health Centre. She was predeceased by husband John; parents Mary and Michael Oko; brothers, Steve, Frank, Fred, Peter, Joe, and dearly loved grandson Calvin Chudd. Her memory will be forever cherished by her loving son Johnny (late Gladys, granddaughter Cheryl and Ross Bailey, great-grandsons, Neil and Craig, children of Calvin, Chantal (Hayley), Kristen and Tanner and grandson Blair Chudd); devoted daughters, Joyce Grubs (son-in-law Paul, grandchildren, Holly and Jonathon and Brooke, great-granddaughter Caroline), Marilyn Einarson (son-in-law David, grandson Jon and Tamara, great-grandchildren, Brayden and baby Eve and grandson Eric). She will be missed by her many friends and family. Anne was born in the Camp Morton area, the eldest daughter of Mary and Michael Oko. She married John Chudd in 1931 and raised her children in Gimli where she lived her entire life, working with and supporting her husband in his businesses. She was very active in her community. Her commitment to volunteerism dates back to 1934, when she joined the Gimli Women's Institute, and she even served tea at the opening ceremonies of the Johnson Memorial Hospital in 1939. It was simply her nature to be so giving. Anne had many talents and was especially skilled in the kitchen. Her perogies, pies and homemade soup, made with love and care, were a special joy to us all. She was a gifted seamstress. She loved to knit and crochet and made wonderful quilts. We can all sleep at night in the embrace of one of the many quilts and afghans she so lovingly and particularly created for each of us. She maintained her large home and yard throughout her life. Her garden was wonderful and she loved her flowers. She looked forward to nice weather so she could be outdoors working in her yard. She was an avid reader, bridge and whist player and always had a project on the go. She loved to travel and meet people. We were able to celebrate her 90th birthday in October 2004. She thoroughly enjoyed the day, surrounded by her loving family. Her family was her joy. Her love was boundless and she played a central role in each of our lives. She took great pride in the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and in turn was cherished. Her long and healthy life has been a gift beyond measure. She was always, and will forever be, loved. A service in celebration of her life will be held at the Gimli Lutheran Church on Thursday, June 2 at 2:00 p.m. A private interment will follow. Although she loved flowers, the family requests that donations be made in lieu to the Gimli Community Health Centre Healing Garden, Canadian Diabetes Association or charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to Gilbart Funeral Home.
