SYDNEY ROBERT HEPWORTH 1917 - 2005 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father Syd Hepworth, on Friday, May 27, 2005 at the age of 87. Syd is survived by his sons, Syd Jr. (Florence) and Boyd (Gail); his grandchildren, Craig (Lynn) and Kristen Osiowy (Shawn), Dawn Klimuk (Garry), Grant; and three great-grandchildren, twins, Thomas and Reid Hepworth and six week old Carter Osiowy, who were the loves of his life. Additional surviving family members includes his brothers, Art and Ivan; and his sister Nellie. Also left to mourn his passing are friends and family in Transcona and especially at the Transcona Legion, where he was a proud and loyal member. He was predeceased by his first wife Lillian Violet Hepworth (nee Foot), his second wife Lily Hepworth (nee Rogers) and his sister Sidney Mable. Syd was born in Transcona and with the exception of his wartime service in Newfoundland, lived in town all his life. He worked for and retired from the local CNR shops as a carman. He spent a great deal of his time as a young man being involved in hockey, baseball and football for a variety of Transcona sports teams. Syd also had a cottage at Malachi, ON from 1951 until the passing of his first wife in 1963. He spent many happy hours there with friends and family. Those who had come to know our father knew him as a kind and generous man, gruff on the outside but the first one to offer a helping hand. We miss him already. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 1 at 1:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. with Rev. John Holmen officiating. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 500-55 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1L8. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
