Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID W. GILFILLAN September 27, 1947 to May 5, 2005 Father / Husband / Brother / Grandfather / Uncle / Friend / Teacher / Principal / A True Leader Suddenly, without reason, David was taken from us. The Heavens above needed a teacher so David was called upon. David will truly be missed by all his family, friends and colleagues. David's passion was education. It all started in 1967 where David taught in Cross Lake, MB. From there he moved to Portage la Prairie (1969 - 1970), Montrose School (1970 - 1974), Pinawa (1974 - 1976), and Grant Park High (1976 - 1984). He moved to Toronto from 1985 - 2004, where he taught at Cosburn Middle School, Cresent Town P.S., Bennington Heights P.S. and Parkside P.S. He later served as Vice Principal at Thorncliffe School, and Principal at Amesbury Middle School and Gracefield Public School. David will be truly missed by his loving children, Jeff (Kelli), Kaitlyn and Nicholas; Krista (Neil), Spencer; and Paul, Zachary and Jayden and their mother Wendy; brother-in-law Cliff (Kelsey and Ian). David is survived by his brothers, Barry (Brenda) and his children, Anna and Matthew; Ron (Brenda) and his son David, and great-nephew, Quintin. In December 2004, David retired in Vernon, BC at his dream home / bed and breakfast in the mountains. A celebration of his great life was held Monday, May 9, attended by close family and friends. Interment of ashes was held at a private service with family at his paradise home in the mountains. As education was an important part of David's life, your donations may be made to your favourite school in support of a breakfast, lunch, or library program. If you need to contact the family you can e-mail Ron (brother) at r.gilfillan@shaw.ca And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years -- Abraham Lincoln
