Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPATRICIA ANN SHANSKI 1938 - 2005 We regretfully announce the death of our sister, Aunty and Grand Aunty, Pat, on Monday, May 30, 2005, at the Victoria General Hospital. Besides her family, she leaves to mourn many cousins, aunts and an uncle. Pat was predeceased by her mother Sparky in 1990; and her father John in 1993. On March 15, 1938, Pat was born in Selkirk, MB. She received her RN from the Winnipeg General Hospital in 1959 and a diploma in Nursing, Teaching and Supervision from the University of Manitoba in 1962. Pat fulfilled many positions in her nursing career from Director of Nursing at the Lake of the Woods General Hospital, Administrator of the Shrine Hospital in Winnipeg, to over seeing the implementation of Home Care Services in the city of Regina. She became the executive director of Wascana Home Care, where she remained till her retirement in 1992. Pat was always active in her profession and was a founding director of the Canadian Home Care Association. Pat immensely enjoyed the theatre, the ballet, gardening and designing her many homes, but most of all she enjoyed entertaining her many friends and travelling. She made many trips around the globe. By far, her first love was caring for her family. After her parents passed away, she assumed the role of matriarch and fulfilled it with the utmost generosity. Be it her brother John and his wife Maureen; her brother Don; or her nieces and nephews, Trevor and wife Shelley, Sterling, Dawn Renne, Kristin and her husband Greg, Karen and her husband Eduardo and Johnathan; or her great-niece and nephew, Odette and Juca, she was always someone to be depended on and called on no matter what the circumstances. Pat loved people and took pride in her magnetic personality. She had many challenges in her life and always met them head on and with a positive attitude. Friends and family were always her highest priority. Pat will be remembered as big, bright, bold and beautiful. We will always remember the summers at Clearwater Bay, the sing songs around the player piano, smartie cookies, gumdrop cake, the perfect layers of vinatarta and the unlimited kinds of chutney. In accordance with Pat's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Our family would like to thank Dr. W.A. Van Horne, Dr. I. Thorlakson, Dr. Strachen and Dr. Craven, the staff in the ICU and the fifth floor at Victoria General Hospital for their diligence, love and caring attitude. It is with sadness that we learned of Pat's death. She was an extrodinary lady - warm, generous, idealist, dynamic and couragous. We met in the early days of home care and shared many challenging, exciting and turbulent times which cultivated a strong bond as colleague and friend. You will miss her dearly and we offer our condolences. May the wonderful memories be of comfort to you as you grieve your loss. - Posted by: Paul & Margo Fahlman (Family) on: Jun 04, 2005

Auntie Pat Although you were not my mother or father's sister you will always be remembered to me as my Auntie Pat ... I will miss your smile, your laugh and although you are not around I will remember what we last discussed about not staying away from friends and family any longer than I need to and I have acted on that advice :D Farewell to you and you will be loved and missed daily by many.
