EDWIN JOHN SIMS It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Edwin John Sims on Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at Lions Manor. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Flora; his son Robert (Jan); two grandchildren, Ramsey (Christina) of Selkirk and Tenille (Thomas) of Selkirk; five great-grandchildren, Makaeli, April, Phaeton, Khloe and Atley; his sisters, Frances Unger of Stonewall, Evelyn McMahon of Winnipeg, Amy Dellibur of Teulon; brother Fred Sims (Carman) of Calgary; brother-in-law Leigh Tracy of Edmonton; sister-in-law Dorothy Tharp, of Victoria; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Bert and Gladys Sims; and sister Elsie Tronrud. Edwin was born in Teulon July 17, 1921 and was raised on the family farm west of Inwood. He joined the army in the Second World War and was stationed in Nova Scotia where he contracted rheumatic fever, was hospitalized. He was a member of the St. Vital Legion Branch 16 since 1945 and received his 60 year pin on May 29, 2005. After the army he returned to Winnipeg and worked as a mechanic and later as repair shop foremen for the City of St. Vital and later the City of Winnipeg. He retired in 1981 after 35 years. Prior to retiring Ed bought a Quarter Section at Erinview which he named Loch Monor Ranch where he and Flora would spend weekends. After retirement Ed would spend his summers commuting between Winnipeg and the farm. When asked, Edwin would be happy to share fond memories of his life. He had a unique love of life, nature and his family. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 8 at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Edwin's memory to the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital, Teulon, MB R0C 3B0. All if Edwin's family and friends will be considered as honorary pallbearers.
