Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTEOFIL GALBICHKA Surrounded by his loving family, and after a very long and often somber battle with Alzheimer's Disease, Dad (Tato), Grandfather (Detco) and Great-Grandfather, Teofil Galbichka, was finally called home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on June 3, 2005. Teofil was born in 1911 in Madunice, Slovakia - a place that he described as being beautiful flat farmland, especially in the light of the fact that his future bride came from the hills which he found to be very amusing. In 1934, he met Mary Varachka and, after a brief courtship of three weeks, they joined their hands in holy matrimony. Teofil and Mary, with their infant son Cyril, moved to Canada in 1937. They moved to the town of Malonton, MB, where Teofil operated a sawmill. In 1940, Teofil and Mary welcomed their firstborn daughter, Mary, into the world. In 1944, Teofil uprooted his small family and moved to Rosewood, MB where he began farming. In 1946, Teofil and Mary then welcomed into the world their daughter Elsie, their son Stanley in 1948, their son Johnny in 1950, and their son Julian in 1956. Teofil was a devoted husband and father who always had a smile on his face and trick up his sleeve. He loved to indulge his children by telling them grand stories that intrigued them and transported into magnificent and wonderful new worlds. He was a devout Roman Catholic who raised his children to follow his love of God. He belonged to St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church for many years. He not only helped with the construction of the church, but also was very active in the church community. He led his children by example. Teofil was predeceased by his grandson Randy Futros and is survived by his loving wife Mary, whom he would have celebrated his 70th wedding anniversary with this November 6. He will be lovingly cherished and remembered by his children, Cyril; Mary and husband Ernie Futros; Elsie and husband Jules La Joie; Stanley and wife Shannon; Johnny and wife Chris; and Julian and wife Tracy; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and many friends. Prayers will be said on Sunday, June 5 at 6:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Notre Dame de Lorette, in Lorette with Rev. Fr. Armand Legal, OMI as celebrant. Interment to follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be his grandsons Joey, Ernie and Eddie Futros, Michael, TJ and Ian Galbichka. Honorary Pallbearer will be Mackenzie Galbichka. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Teofil's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
