RITA MAE EWANKIW (nee ADAMS) After a courageous battle with cancer, Rita Mae Ewankiw, the beloved wife of Harry, passed away at the Victoria General Hospital at the age of 65 years. In addition to her husband Harry, Rita will be missed by her two sons Ken Ewankiw and his wife Karen and Greg Ewankiw and his wife Colleen and grandchildren, Christopher Christina, Kayla, Sam and Jolene. She is also survived by her two sisters, Shirley Davidson (Stan) and Laurie St. Germain (Gene); brother, Bill Adams (Gladys) and numerous nieces and nephews. Rita was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Bertha and Lil; brother, Dick and granddaughter Tara. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at Thomson In the Park, Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. with the Rev. Linda Churchill officiating. Interment will follow in St. Vital Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to gather with the family for a reception at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, Fort Garry Reception Centre following the interment. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to nurses and staff of the fifth floor of the Victoria General Hospital and CancerCare Manitoba for their compassionate care of Rita. Flowers are gratefully declined; however memorial contributions may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 109-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 and/or bring a non-perishable food product to the service in support of Winnipeg Harvest. Rita's family was her life and everything that was important to her involved her husband, sons and their families, especially her grandchildren.
