DOREEN COOK (nee HICKS) September 3, 1920 - June 4, 2005 Peacefully in the early hours of June 4 at the Grace General Hospital, Doreen, 84, passed away. She is survived by her husband of 35 years Robert Cook; her sons, Ted of Hobart, Australia, Dale (Donna) of Selkirk; stepdaughter Sandra (Bill) of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Tom of Ottawa, Patrick of Gillam, Fr. Darren of Winnipeg, and Brent (Kelly) of Florida. She is also survived by her sisters, Rita of Winnipeg and Betty (Colin) of Edmonton along with her many nieces and nephews. Doreen was born on September 3, 1920 in Morden, MB and spent her childhood years in Pilot Mound. She worked for MTS for 25 years, mostly in Pilot Mound. When she retired, she and Bob spent much of their time travelling. For several years they spent winters in Phoenix, summers in Gimli and went on various cruises. Doreen especially enjoyed the trip to Australia to visit Ted. She had a great sense of humour and loved being with her family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Russ and Fern Hicks and her first husband Ralph Robbins. Special thanks to the staff at Victoria Oncology and Grace General Hospital. In keeping her wishes cremation has taken place. The service and internment of ashes will be in Pilot Mound cemetery on Wednesday, June 8 at 2:00 p.m. In memory of Doreen donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba.
