MICHAEL LAWRIE CHALMERS 1953 - 2005 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Michael Lawrie Chalmers, 51, on June 4, 2005 at Pinawa, MB. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 27 years, Julie; sons, Bill and Cameron; mother Irene; sister Leigh (Sam); sister Mary Anne (Ken); mother-in-law Bessie; sister-in-law Terry; brother-in-law Fred (Lynn); sister-in-law Cathy (Wes); brother-in-law Jeff (Leanne); nieces and nephews, Caleigh, Casey, Clay, Alison, Mark, Rae, Bob, Katie and Brendan; as well as many, many friends. Michael was predeceased by his brother Bill in 1972, his dad Tom in 2001 and his faithful buddy Duke in February, 2005. Michael was born on June 10, 1953 in Manitou, MB where he attended school and graduated grade 12. He then moved to Winnipeg to continue his life's journey. Michael's varied career began with the Winnipeg Police Service in 1972 and ended with his home inspection business, Chalmers Inspection Services Ltd. If Michael couldn't find a company he wanted to work for he would just make one up! He was never afraid to try something new. His work interests took him and Julie from Winnipeg to Saskatoon to Denver and then back to Winnipeg where they then settled down and started a family. Michael had a great passion for the out of doors. He wanted nothing more than for his boys to share this passion and was always happy to teach them what he knew and loved. Michael had many, many interests which included sports, camping, reading and cooking, but his happiest times were spent hunting, fishing and trips to the Love Shack in the Pembina Valley. Michael was a wonderful husband, great father and super friend. He was extremely proud of his sons and would brag about them to anyone who would sit and listen. He made our family a family and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Do not walk in front of me I may not follow, Do not walk behind me I may not lead, But walk beside me and be my friend. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 9 at 2:00 p.m. in the Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Dr. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael's memory to the Manitoba Wildlife Federation, 70 Stevenson Rd., Winnipeg, MB R3H 0W7.
