ROBERT PETER JANSEN April 2, 1942 - June 5, 2005 With great sorrow, we announce the passing of our dear husband and father. Bob was born in Altona and spent his childhood in Stuartburn. He moved to Winnipeg at 15 and attended Gordon Bell High School. In 1966, he married Valerie British, and had two daughters of which he was very proud. Bob worked with Mercedez-Benz for 40 years and retired in 2001, when he moved to the place he loved most in life, his cottage at the lake. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife Valerie; daughters, Dana and Tara; son-in-law Neil Thrumble; parents, Peter and Dorothy Jansen; and sister Lorna (Pat) Martin of Sherwood Park, AB. Everyone close to him knows how much he loved to spend time with family and friends at the lake, boating, water skiing, snowmobiling and always finding new projects in which to include others. Heartfelt thanks go out to the staff of the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Chemo Ward in Kenora, especially Dr. Beverage, Kim and Carolyn, for their compassion and cheerful, uplifting attitude, who will undoubtedly remember Bob's quick-witted sense of humour and positive outlook. Cremation has already taken place. A private intimate celebration will be held in honour of Bob's life. He will be missed and fondly remembered by all that had the privilege of knowing him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lake of the Woods District Hospital, 21 Sylvan St. W., Kenora, ON P9N 3W7 Phone: (807) 468-9861 Cheques may be made payable to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Auxiliary.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Though not said of many yet for Bob it can be said that it was a privilege to know him. He was a really nice wonderful person - loving and caring. There are a number of situations that come to mind but I remember the nice way he handled the transaction of a little Subaru for my daughter. I remember also pleasant conversations during the get togethers at Val and Bob's place. And time at the lake . hmmmmmm waterskiing and the subsequent trip to the hospital. He is gone to a better place preparing the way for us. Phil - Posted by: Philippe Trottier (Family) on: Jun 13, 2005
