Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERNA KRISTIN SOLMUNDSON 1919 - 2005 Peacefully on June 3, 2005, Verna passed away at the Saint Boniface Hospital at the age of 86 years. Born in Winnipeg March 16, 1919, Verna was the daughter of Bjorgvin and Kristin Stefansson. Predeceased by her husband Franz, her parents, her brother Larry and her daughter-in-law Sheila Solmundson. Verna is survived by her four children, Frances Solmundson and partner Don Bigelow, son Stefan (Sonny) Solmundson and his wife Felicity, Kristin Harris and partner John Keegan, Bara Patterson and husband Dale; grandchildren include Kristin Garn, Bill MacMorran, Carrie Solmundson, Signi Caine, Gregory and Grant Solmundson, Grayson, Quincy, Kristjan and Eton Harris, Maureen Couvrette, Stefanie Rudd, Trevor and Ryan Patterson. Great-grandchildren include Tree Munoz, Shayla and Brett Rudd, Leeanne and Matthew Couvrette, Stefan Hreno, Dixon, Tynan, Jonina and Soren Caine, Sunny and Chelsea Solmundson and Samantha McCoomb, Haylee and Noah Sinclair. Also surviving are two brothers, Leonard and wife Barbara Stefansson, Mac Stefansson and sister Marin Powell. Verna's life was spent in Winnipeg and rural Manitoba. After completing high school, she attended The Winnipeg School of Art. Her love of art and music played a dominant role in her life. She participated in the community life of many rural areas, playing the organ and directing youth choirs. Her last tenure was at Charleswood United Church where she was choir director and organist for 20 years. Verna was employed by CIBC and upon her retirement in 1984 she received a Distinguished Employee Award. The family would like to thank all of the nurses and doctors of the Palliative Care Unit, Saint Boniface Hospital for the most comforting care and attention given to our mother. We also would like to extend a very special thank you to all of the Home Health Care workers who so kindly looked after our mother at home. A private family service will be held on June 9, 2005.
