Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGUERITE GISIGER On June 8, 2005 at Victoria General Hospital, Marguerite died peacefully. Marguerite was born in St. Labre, MB on February 28, 1930. She was predeceased by her parents, Benoit and Jeanne Gisiger and her brother Joseph. She is survived by five sisters and brothers and their families, Helene Gregoire (Maurice, Monique); Elise Richard (Arthur, Joceline, Madeleine, Maurice, Cecile, Suzanne); Denis Gisiger and Joanne (children of Joseph); Luc and Lucille Gisiger (Lynne, Marcel); Angele and Antoine Gobin (Vivianne, Carole); Jean Gisiger and Jean (Michelle, Pierrette, Jean, Mark); sister-in-law Jeannine Gisiger. Marguerite and her sister Helene were inseparable companions all their lives and Marguerite was like a second mother to Monique and to Maurice and Carmen and their children Sabrina and Sierra. She was cherished by all her nieces and nephews and their families. She took great delight each year in her birthday lunches at Perkins and the gifts so carefully chosen and carefully wrapped by Vivianne and Carole. She also valued the friendship and camaraderie of close neighbour Mrs. Joe . Marguerite was independent and courageous, determined and proud, industrious and playful. She loved card playing, bingo, walking, and visiting with family and friends. Her good luck in games was legendary as was her competitive nature. She was the keeper of the family history and photo gallery, able to the end to recite from memory the ages and birthdays of every relative in the clan. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the gentle and patient doctors and staff at Victoria Hospital where during her brief illness she was infallibly treated with the greatest dignity, respect and good humour. She took perverse pride in being dubbed a tough old bird by Drs. Tomy and Penner and deeply appreciated efforts made by many staff to speak French with her. She faithfully attended St. Emile's Church and was very thankful for Fr. Peeters' visits to the hospital. Viewing will be Saturday, June 11 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Benoit Labre Church in St. Labre prior to the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Victoria General Hospital Foundation or a charity of choice.
