JAMES ALLAN FRASER It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father and grandpa, James Allan Fraser, on Saturday, June 4, 2005, after a lengthy, but gallant battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Florence; and three children, son David Fraser (Rae), grandson Callum and step-grandchildren, Devon, Tara and Mitchell; son Robert Fraser (Irene) and grandchildren, Pamela, Amy and Robert; daughter Pamela Butler (Todd) and grandchildren, Kristen and Jayme; sisters, Diane and family and Judy; and sister-in-law Christine and family, all of England. Jim was predeceased by his mother Lillian; brother John; and sister Betty. Dad was born in Bournemouth, England on February 9, 1930 and immigrated to Canada with his sister Betty and her husband Roy in 1955 and as he used to say, I came all the way to Canada just to meet your Mom . He was employed with CNR and VIA Rail, where he met many of his lifetime friends and he retired in 1986 after 31 years of service. Dad had a soft spot for his family, which was the most important thing in his life. He also took great pleasure in his little pets and those of his family. Anybody who knew him, knew he loved a good cuppa tea and he could often be heard saying, put kettle on! Dad was a kind, gentle soul, who was so very generous with his family. He had the best sense of humour and all his little limericks and songs will go on forever as we recite them from generation to generation. He was a very private person, who took pleasure in the simple things in life, like his well kept garden and yard or sitting in his sunroom having a spot of tea or the numerous family picnics at Birds Hill Park or Patricia Beach. In accordance with Jim's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Our family would like to thank the staff of Concordia Hospital, 3rd floor and the St. Boniface General Hospital 8th Floor Palliative Care Ward for their excellent care and compassion. May the winds of love blow softly, And whisper so you can hear, We'll forever love and miss you, And wish that you were here. We'll try to find some comfort, In dealing with the pain, Of knowing in the future, We'll be with you again. For all that life has given us, And all that's left to do, We'll know no greater treasure, Than the days we had with you. Love you forever.
