GERALD DALE (ROCKY) LAROQUE 1954 - 2005 On the evening of May 27, 2005 Dale passed away at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre with family at his side. He was predeceased by his father, Stanley, in 2002. He is survived by his loving mother, Ivy and his brother Larry (Gary Paul) of Vancouver, his aunt Glady (Mike) Borys of Winnipeg and aunt Eileen LaRoque of Holland, MB, his cousins, Karen, Laurane, Lynda, Dennis, Greg, Barbara, Barrie, Edythe, Keith, Elaine and their families. Dale was born on August 15, 1954. He grew up in St. Vital. He attended Varennes School where he served as Student Council President and Glen Lawn Collegiate where he served as Student Council Vice-President. He also attended the University of Winnipeg. Dale volunteered with a number of service organizations. These included The Manitoba Association for World Development, where he served as one of the coordinators of the 1970 Miles for Millions march in Winnipeg. His working career included: Children's Home of Winnipeg, The Toronto Children's Aid Society, Great West Life and the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia. Dale was also active in the Labour Movement. He served as an Executive Director for the Canadian Office and Professional Employees Union, Local 378. Due to ill health, Dale returned to Winnipeg from Vancouver in 2002. The last months of Dale's life were spent at The House of Hesed where he was cared for with great love and compassion by Maureen Feakes, all the staff and volunteers. Also, our thanks to Dr. Dick Smith, Ruth Hadden and all the staff at the Nine Circles Community Health Centre. Donations may be made to The House of Hesed, Box 1493, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2Z4. Throughout his life Dale was a natural leader. His keen sense of social justice and equality were reflected in both his personal and work relationships. The last years of Dale's life were very difficult. Nevertheless, Dale did not lose his sense of humour. We love you We miss you We will never forget you Love Mum and Larry
