ROSE LITWIN September 17, 1919 - June 10, 2005 Rose Litwin passed away at the St. Michael's Health Centre on Friday, June 10, 2005. She is survived by one son Gordon (Rose Marie); daughter-in-law Evelyn; five grandchildren, Darlene (Ken) Hooper, Brian (Ruth) Litwin, Rosemarie, Laura (Andy) Carlson and James (Hope) Litwin; four great-grandchildren, Joshua (Kim) Hooper, Camille Hooper, Isabelle Huel and Maddie Carlson. Her special friends, Vina, Rose and Monika will miss Rose. Rose was predeceased by her loving husband and friend George in 1995, her son Robert in 1980 and an infant son. Mom was born and raised in Winnipeg until 1978 when she and dad moved to Lethbridge to join her family. Mom opened her home to over two dozen foster children during her life in Winnipeg. She also committed herself to adopting six children though the Christian Children's Fund. Mom was always happiest teaching children in Sunday School. She was an avid knitter working on Blankets for Canada, slippers, baby outfits for the hospital and her many friends. We know that many of her 600 mitts have made it around the world to many countries and she recently completed her 27th afghan for another of her friends. A special thank you to the nursing staff of the Lethbridge Regional Hospital 3rd floor and to the caregivers at St. Michael's Health Centre 1st West A and B for their kindness and compassion. The memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, 1614-5 Avenue South, Lethbridge on Tuesday, June 14 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bruce Martin officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lethbridge Regional Hospital Foundation, to support Volunteer Resources Knitting Projects, 960-19 Street South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 1W5, which was near and dear to Rose's heart.
