Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRONALD (RON) ARTHUR STOKES It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Ronald Stokes at the Grace General Hospital on Friday, June 10, 2005 at the age of 67 years. Remaining to cherish Ron's memory are his son Kevin, daughter Kelli, grandson Colin, brothers Dick (Judy), and Larry as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father Donald and mother Geraldine. Ron was employed as a Correctional Officer at Stony Mountain Institution for 27 years. He spent many years curling at the Civic Caledonian Curling Club and served as president. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, and baseball. Ron spent many evenings at Assinboia Downs betting on the ponies and he was also an honorary horse owner. In his later years, he particularly enjoyed spending time at the A.N.A.F.#1 shooting the breeze with his friends at the B/S Table . He played cribbage, darts, pool and was a regular for the Saturday afternoon meat draw. Ron went on many bus trips with the seniors from the A.N.A.F. He loved spending summers puttering around and having a beer at the family cottage at Matlock. On Thursday, June 16 at 11:00 a.m., Ron's funeral service will be held in the Army Navy Air Force Unit #1, 300-1395 Ellice Avenue. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of the Intensive Care Unit at Grace General Hospital for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Suite 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB. R3L OK6.
