He was predeceased by his parents, Manuel Soares Carvalho Sr. and mother Maria Helena Dos Santos Carvalho; sister Maria Nazare Carvalho Medeiros, brother Jose Soares Carvalho, brother Jaime Soares Carvalho, sister Helena Soares Carvalho and infant son Paul Gorge Tavares Carvalho. Manuel was born on November 23, 1927 in Bretanha, Azores, Portugal. He met Alice and they married after five years in 1955. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 22, while Manuel was in the hospital. In December 1970, Manuel immigrated to Canada, his wife and children joining him a year later, where they have called Winnipeg home since their arrival. Manuel was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed simple things such as having coffee with his friends, attending Sunday mass with his wife and taking long walks around the neighborhood. He was also a die-hard wrestling fan and never missed a single episode of the drama. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and always looked forward to when the entire family got together for holidays and special occasions. He found comfort in having a full house and always welcomed family, friends and strangers alike. Being a man of strong Roman Catholic faith, may he find true peace and comfort as he is welcomed home by God. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, June 14th at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 15th at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin St., with Rev.
