NELLIE FORTUNE SAFONOVS Sadly on June 10, 2005, Nellie passed away in her sleep, having her sister Mireille by her side, for her last days at the Lion's Manor. Nellie will always be remembered by her seven children, Gillis, Paul, Louise, Nick, Noel, Frank and Jackie. Nellie will be sadly missed by her grandchildren and Eugene, the father of her seven children. Also in mourning is her family in France, sister Yvonne, brother Joseph and nieces and nephews. Nellie was born June 20, 1924 in Constantine, Algeria where she met Eugene and had their first son, Gillis. In 1955, when they decided to immigrate by boat to Canada, Nellie bought the wrong tickets to board The Andrea Doria and had to wait for the next boat. This was a blessing in disguise because when they arrived to Canada, they heard the fatal news of The Andrea Doria boat sinking. Nellie enjoyed a simple life that consisted of sewing, knitting and spending most of her time loving and caring for her children and taking care of and loving her youngest daughter Jackie. Flowers can be sent to Mireille at the Lion's Manor. Nellie's service will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
