Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES GORDON CONACHER Peacefully on June 11, 2005 at the Gimli Community Health Centre, Jim Conacher, aged 82 years, of Winnipeg Beach, MB, beloved husband of Frances. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Alice; brothers, Dave and sister-in-law Pat of Burlington and Bob of Winnipeg. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Fran, his son Jim (Ann) of Winnipeg, brother-in-law Art Sperring (Ellen) of Winnipeg, sister-in-law Cecile Conacher of Winnipeg and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Jim was born in Winnipeg on April 5, 1923. He joined the Navy in 1941 and served his country until the end of the Second World War. He started working for Air Canada in 1947 as a station attendant and worked there until retiring in 1977 as a Ramp Supervisor. After retiring, Jim worked on his cabin in Winnipeg Beach to get it winterized and they moved out there permanently in 1979. He enjoyed his sports. He was an avid curler, curling in Winnipeg and then later in Winnipeg Beach and Gimli, and was Past President of the Victoria Curling Club, 1965 to 1966. In the summers he enjoyed golfing with the seniors at both the Gimli and Winnipeg Beach golf courses. Jim was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 182, Gimli. The family would like to thank Dr. Chapnick, and the nurses and staff at the Gimli hospital for their care of our husband and father. In accordance with Jim's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.

Those A/C curling Banquets were the best, especially when my wife Barb was expecting, and we took a lot of ribbing from my old Skip and his Buddy Bob Smith (Shack). Rest in Peace Jim. - Posted by: Gord Davis (Friend) on: Jun 14, 2005
