Helen was born in the Ukraine and immigrated to Canada in 1925 arriving in Morris, MB. Shortly after marrying August Dyck, they settled in Springstein where they farmed and raised their family. Helen managed the home and was a partner with August in the family farming business. She was integral in the development of the Springstein Community Church, school and Assiniboine Camp. She was active as a volunteer at Bethel Place where she lived her last 16 years. She will be remembered by many as friendly, cheerful and dignified. Her children will remember her as a woman who was compassionate, courageous and proactive and true to her faith and values. Above all else, she lived her life with uncompromising commitment to her children and grandchildren. The family would like to publicly thank the staff and neighbours of Bethel Place, her caregivers of the last few years and especially niece Hedie Epp and longtime friend Johanna Dyck who stayed with Helen the last 14 hours of her life. Anyone wishing to do so, instead of sending flowers, is invited to make a donation in our mother's memory to the Mennonite Central Committee or Bethel Mennonite Care Services (Bethel Place). A brief meditation and viewing service was held in the Chapel at Klassen Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 14 at 7:00 p.m. The service of remembrance will be held on Wednesday, June 15 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethel Mennonite Church, 870 Carter Ave., with burial at Springstein Cemetery.
