GLADYS MARY JOHNSON (GIBBONS) 1912 - 2005 After a good, long life, Gladys passed away peacefully at Concordia Hospital in the evening of Tuesday, June 14, 2005. She was predeceased by her husband Orv; brother Stan and sister Muriel. Gladys is survived by sons, Barry (Dorothy) and Glenn (Diane); grandchildren, Jeanette, Lark, Ben and Paul; great-granddaughter Chelsea; great great granddaughter Eleanna; and brother-in-law Bob (Shirley). Gladys was born and lived all her life in Winnipeg, attending Pinkham School, Daniel Mac and Success Business College. She met Orville Johnson at McLean Mission and they married in 1937. She gave birth to Barry in 1939 and Glenn in 1947. Also in 1947, they moved to Martin Avenue, where they lived till 2001. Gladys enjoyed bowling at Windsor Park and Billy Mosienko. She was devoted to her family and their families and lived a life of love and forgiveness. Gladys made friends wherever she went, including her last days at N-3 West at Concordia Hospital. Many thanks to the staff who helped her end this journey and begin the next. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Gladys' memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. MISS ME BUT LET ME GO When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom-filled room, Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long, And not with your head bowed low, Remember the love that we once shared, Miss me, but let me go. For this is a journey we all must take, And each must go alone, It's part of the Master's plan, A step on the road to home. So when you are lonely and sick at heart, Go to the friends we know, And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds, Miss me-but let me go. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
