DOROTHY ANDERSON (SORLIE) 1941 - 2005 It is with deep sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of Dorothy on June 14, 2005 at the Health Sciences Centre, surrounded by her family. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Brian; daughters, Audrey Wilgosh (John), Colleen Brooks (Joby) and Erin Blahitka. Grandchildren, Michael and Sarah Wilgosh, Kelsey and Joshua Brooks, Taylor and Jordan Blahitka. Sisters, Pearl Goodmanson, Caroline Hintz (Gerald); brothers, David Sorlie (Arlene), Edwin Sorlie, all of Selkirk and brother Claude Sorlie (Ursula) of Callaway, NE. Sister-in-law Dawn MacFarlane and brother-in-law Doug Anderson (Marilyn) of Selkirk. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Pauline Sorlie; her grandson Kyle Brooks; son-in-law David Blahitka; brothers-in-law, Mac MacFarlane and Haroldur Goodmanson. Dorothy was born in Piney, MB and moved to Selkirk at the age of 17. She went to Marvel School of Hairdressing in Winnipeg and then started working in Selkirk where she met Brian. Her and Brian married in 1961 and settled in Selkirk. Dorothy worked for many years with Brian and later with her daughters at Anderson Agencies Ltd. Most recently she worked at Wal-Mart in Selkirk, a job that she thoroughly enjoyed. She was always welcoming with her smile. Dorothy by nature was a very caring, loving, family person, whether baking bread in the winter or locking away the Christmas shortbread in the freezer, which her daughters always found. Mom gave endless support in good times and bad to the people she loved. You knew that you could always count on Mom. Her sense of humour along with her vim and vigor were appreciated by all the lives she touched. Family always came first with Mom, whether it was a phone call to see how you were, helping with everything from cooking to painting or just stopping by for a hug. Mom took great pride in her grandchildren, she was there when each one of them entered this world and had a strong bond with each one. The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to the medical staff at the Selkirk and District General Hospital and the Health Sciences Centre for their care, respect and kindness shown to both Mom and her family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy's name can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at Gilbart's Funeral Home, Selkirk on Friday, June 17 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Stan Richards officiating. To your who raised us I offer this thought. In all the world there is no other to take the place of our dear mother. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
