She was born to Bill and Mable Sparling, on the family farm in the Beaconsfield district, near Treherne on August 30, 1918. She was educated in the Beaconsfield and Swan Lake schools. She often spoke of the wonderful times they had as a family and how much they enjoyed each other. Mina and Bill were married in 1938, moving several times for work until 1947 when they purchased their farm at Wawanesa. There they remained happily for the next 50 years. In 1997 they moved to town where they enjoyed the company of their neighbours and friends. Mom loved many things but none more so than her family, and she never missed an opportunity to tell us. She was a devoted, generous, nurturing wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister and friend. She had many interests and none will be remembered more than her love of baking bread. As well she enjoyed gardening, quilting, music, dancing, travelling, reading, playing cards and family gatherings. She was a woman of strong faith and quiet strength. Everyone who knew her will have wonderful memories of her as she touched each of our lives in her own special way. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 18 at the Wawanesa United Church with the Rev. Margret Kristjansson officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in the Methven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. For all that life has given us, And all that's left to do, We'll know no greater treasure than, The days we had with you. Jamieson's Funeral Service, Glenboro (204) 827-2480 in care of arrangements.
