NANCY BARBOUR With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Nancy Louise Barbour aged 54, on Wednesday, June 15, 2005. Nancy was born in Toronto and explored Canada for many years before finally settling in Winnipeg. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister Pauline and brother-in-law Marc Valentini of Blauvac, France as well as family members in Ontario and her extensive circle of friends in the Point Douglas Community of which she was a well-respected member. Nancy worked for the North End Renewal Housing Corporation as a Housing Coordinator and was an active member of the Point Douglas Housing Committee. An experienced actress and comedian, Nancy was also a member of the Manitoba Association of Playwrights. Among her many talents Nancy was a trained hypno-therapist and keen gardener. She and her companion dog Mocha Java often enjoyed nature on long walks together. In this spirit we suggest that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. The family wishes to thank her many close friends for their loving support and the wonderful MICU staff at Health Sciences Centre. A Celebration of Nancy's life will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 20 at Thunderbird House at the corner of Main and Higgins. The Desjardins Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements 233-4949; toll free 1-888-233-4949. Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.desjardins-funeral.ca

I am impacted by your sudden departure, Nancy, as I was impacted by your powerful presence--your intelligence and passion for truth, your poetry and flair for drama even when not onstage--your intrinsic aliveness and fire. Am especially grateful for a poem you wrote for my wedding shower two decades ago. Thank you for seeing me then at deep and real levels. I see you now, in my heart and mind's eye, overflowing with beauty, wishing I had spoken these words to you before now. Lovely trip, my friend. Give Rozzie a hug for me. I miss her too. - Posted by: Jude Repar (Friend) on: Jun 21, 2005
