ALICE ALEXANDRA ANTHONY (nee DYMA) Peacefully at the Golden Door Geriatric Centre on June 15, 2005. Beloved wife of her late husband Frank, Alice is survived by her daughter Judy Vielgut; son Larry (Patti); grandchildren, Kirsten Lauka (Haney) and Jennifer Jason (Andrew); her great-grandchildren, Kailyn and Jakob Lauka and Brady Jason; and her sister Olga Melyn. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Joe Vielgut; sisters, Johanna, Mary and Sophie; and brothers, Branny and John. Alice was born in Winnipeg on March 27, 1918 to Anna and Joseph Dyma. She devoted her life to her family, cherished many lifelong friends and contributed significantly to the community. Alice and Frank helped found the Canadian Ukrainian Athletic Club (C.U.A.C.) and the Holy Family Nursing Home of which Alice was past president of the Ladies Auxiliary. Alice and Frank attended St. Nicholas Church and sang in its celebrated choir. Alice was a librarian at Gordon Bell and other local high schools. Alice was an exceptional cook, a most gracious hostess and enjoyed travelling, bowling, curling, playing bridge, the piano and organ and socializing with The Gang over many memorable decades. Alice will truly be missed, yet remembered forever. May God bless her kind, sweet soul. Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 20 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. with Fr. A. McVay officiating. Thereafter, Alice will join Frank at Chapel Lawn Cemetery. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Alice's care companions Senaite Gebrehiwot and Asnakech (Mimi) Bezu and the Golden Door staff for their kindness and compassion.
