Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELLEN JEAN GRIEVE (STUART) Peacefully at Red River Place on June 16, 2005 with her family by her side, Jean Grieve, aged 86, passed away. Jean was born at Pilot Mound on January 29, 1919. She grew up in Pilot Mound and upon graduation moved to Winnipeg where she got her nursing degree. While nursing she met Mel Grieve and they were married on November 4, 1950. Jean then moved to the Grieve family farm where she and Mel raised their family. While raising her family, Jean found delight in her vegetable garden and flower beds. Jean was a life long member of the Cloverdale United Church. Jean and Mel were always the first ones to church so she could make coffee for after the service and the last ones to leave so Jean could clean up. She was also a devoted member of the Cloverdale UCW where she contributed many hours baking and serving at all of the church functions. Family get togethers were important to her and she looked forward to the trips to Pilot Mound to visit Margaret and Reg. She always had a special place in her heart for the hours spent with her grandchildren. Friends and strangers were always welcome in the Grieve home and Jean always found the time and energy to prepare some food for visitors. Jean was predeceased by her parents Jim and Bessie Stuart; her sisters, Hazel and Margaret (Reg); her brother Roy; her husband Mel; daughter Mary; and son Glenn. She leaves to mourn her passing sons, Charlie (Jan) and Ron; son-in-law Rob Cox; daughter-in-law Carolyn Grieve; and grandchildren, Robbie, Carla (Adam), Brad and Janessa. She will also be missed by numerous nephews and nieces and many friends. Prayers will be held on Sunday, June 19 at 3:30 p.m. at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 20 at 1:30 p.m. at the Selkirk United Church with Rev. Geri Bjornson officiating. Interment will follow at the Cloverdale United Church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Brian Dewar, Ian Grieve, Donald Grieve, Jim Begg and her grandsons, Robbie Cox and Brad Grieve. Honoray pallbearers will be nephews Ron and Don Tole. Jean spent the last seven years at Red River Place. The family would like to thank the Red River Place staff for the loving and compassionate care they gave her. They all made her smile and kept her comfortable, especially the last few days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cloverdale United Church, in care of Rob Cox, 118 Montgomery Ave., Selkirk, MB, R1A 3Z4. For all that life has given us, And all that's left to do, We'll know no greater treasure than The days we had with you. Gilbart Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
