Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLUBIE KALMACOFF 1919 - 2005 Lubie Kalmacoff of Calgary, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at the age of 86 years. Lubie was born and raised in Winnipeg where she attended the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church and developed a passion for music and dance that stayed with her all her life. After attending Kelvin High School, at the age of 19 she married Jake Kalmacoff and moved to Kamsack, SK where they raised their young family. During this time she was an active member of the Eastern Star. Many happy summers were spent at Madge Lake, cooking pies in a wood stove and entertaining family and friends. In 1958 the family moved to Calgary and she opened her heart and home to many in need and was a member of the Samaritan Club. She was devoted wife, mother and grandmother and lived her life with dignity, courage and compassion. Her smile, joy and laughter where contagious and lit up any group she was a part of. She will always be the light of our lives. Lubie will be sadly missed by her daughters, Dianne Grant (Martin) and Carol Kalmacoff; son Russell Kalmacoff (Evelyn Gehmacher); grandchildren, Jason Lewis (Ramie Leushner), Allison Lewis Fortier (David Fortier), Antonia Kalmacoff, Christopher Rooney and Andrew Rooney; three great-grandchildren; as well as her sister Geri Peasley of Minneapolis. Lubie was predeceased by her brother Russell Parnick in 1989; and her husband Jake of 62 years, who predeceased her in February 2001. Funeral services will be held at Christ Church Elbow Park (3602 - 8th Street S.W.), Calgary on Tuesday, June 21 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Roy Darcus, presiding.
