OTTILIE (TILLY) WIECZOREK Peacefully, at Meadowood Personal Care Home on June 18, 2005 with her family by her side, Tilly went to meet her Lord and Savior. Tilly was born October 3, 1918 in Berestowicz, Ukraine, the only child of Johan Hulda Link. She married Albert Lutz in December 1935 and the marriage was blessed with 2 children. Her husband was subscripted to the army early in 1941 and killed in action in Leningrad in October of the same year. Through all the turbulent years of war, she never lost her faith in God and witnessed His protecting hand on many occasions. To escape the ravages of war, the family was moved from place to place and finally settled in Fredelsloh, Germany. In March of 1949 she and her family immigrated to Canada. The move was made possible by relatives who sponsored her. The family settled in Morris, MB and Emanuel Baptist church became her spiritual home. She felt welcome and accepted by the community and had finally found a place she could call her home. On December 2, 1949 she married Helmut Wieczorek and they enjoyed a happy and fulfilled life. In 1962 her and her husband moved to Winnipeg and became members of McDermot Avenue Baptist Church. She loved and appreciated the church and faithfully attended as long as she was able. In 2000 she suffered a stroke from which she never really recovered but became weaker and weaker. In July 2002 they sold their home and moved to Meadowood Manor Towers. She resided there until February 2005 she was accepted into the Meadowood Manor Personal Care Home. She is greatly missed by her loving and devoted husband Helmut; her daughter Anne and husband Harry Pohl; her son Erwin and his wife Rita Lutz; four grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; relatives and friends. Many thanks to Pastor Hamm and the Meadowood Care Home staff for the excellent and compassioned care. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, June 21 at 1:00 p.m. at McDermot Avenue Baptist Church. Viewing at the church, prior to the service. Pastor Brian Russell and Pastor Edward Hamm officiating. We sorrow not, as those who have no hope. Our hope is for the blessed re-union in the presence of Jesus. Donations may be made to Meadowood Manor. Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in care of arrangements.
