Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLORRAINE MITCHELL Lorraine passed away peacefully at Crossroads Inlet Hospice in the early morning hours of June 16, 2005, with her family by her side, after a short and valiant battle with cancer. Lorraine was born in Winnipeg on March 5, 1941 to Joseph and Irene Ross and was the eldest of five children. In 1957 she met Norman (Mitch) and they were married on July 26, 1958. In 1965, Lorraine and Norm moved to the Lower Mainland and in 1966 they moved to their house in Coquitlam where Lorraine lived until she entered hospital on May 6, 2005. Lorraine was an avid gardener and she transformed her yard into a mini Butchart Gardens every year. In 1998 she won a Community Beautification Program award from the City of Coquitlam. Lorraine was very sociable and loved to visit family and friends. Lorraine was a member of Dogwood Senior Centre and attended yoga, keep fit, skating, and attended some day excursions. She made many friends at Dogwood. Lorraine loved to travel and was planning a trip to China this Fall. She loved being with family friends, knick-knacks, candy apples, a tidy home, Christmas, cooking and baking, walking, reading, watching CBCN, coffee, and her cat Sammy. Lorraine was predeceased by her parents and parents-in-law, her son, Randy on August 27, 1982, and by her husband Norm (Mitch) on September 3, 1998. She is survived by her three children, Sharon (Brad) Murphy, Rob, and Rae-Ann (Mark) Miller. She is also survived by her beloved granddaughters, Kaitlin and Emma Murphy, and Hailey Miller, whom forever will be in her heart. She is survived by three brothers, Renald, Claude and Maurice Ross, one sister, Jocelyne Ross, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many extended family members, as well as the many friends Lorraine had made in her life time. At this time the family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Crossroads Inlet Hospice for their compassion, care, and support in looking after Lorraine in her final days. Funeral service for Lorraine will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park (in the Chapel), 3789 Royal Oak Avenue, Burnaby, BC on Saturday, June 25 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Crossroads Inlet Hospice, 101 Noons Creek Drive, 4th Floor, Port Moody, BC V3H 5J1, or to your local S.P.C.A.
