SOPHIE UHRYN (DENISCHUK) It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Sophie Uhryn on Monday, June 20, 2005 at 12:20 a.m. at the Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 92 years. Sophie was the last of an era of 12 siblings in the Denischuk family. Sophie and her twin sister Anna were born on August 29, 1912 in Gardenton, MB to Elena and Ivan Denischuk. As a young woman, Sophie moved to Winnipeg where she met and married Fred Uhryn. She was a private person, hard working who loved her home, family and garden. She was also a terrific cook. Mom will be lovingly remembered and missed by her daughters, Maryanne Vivian (Murray) of Winnipeg, Susan Menard (Moise - deceased) of Edmonton, Margaret Nodrick (Bill) of Edmonton; grandchildren, Lori Gerber of Lansing, Michigan, Terry Conn and Donna Tremblay of Winnipeg, Michelle Metz, Mark Menard, Chris Menard, John Nodrick and Cindy Sego of Edmonton; and 18 great-grandchildren. Sophie was predeceased by her husband Fred of 62 years in 1996; son-in-law Moise Menard and great-grandson Dustin Gerber in 2004; her parents; six brothers, Bill, Nick, Matt, John, Andrew and Fred; six sisters, Lena, Mary, Anna, Victoria, Lily and Dora. Sophie was proud, independent, a true pioneer, much respected by her family. She was a lady of class and style. In the last few years, her great-granddaughter Danielle Tremblay brought her joy and love when she visited Sophie. In keeping with Mom's wishes there will be no service. Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place at Thomson In the Park Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. The family thanks Dr. Murray and all the staff at Deer Lodge Centre, who treated Mom with great kindness and respect. You can only have one mother Loving, kind and true No other friend in all the world Will be so true to you For all her love and kindness She asked nothing in return If all the world deserted us To our mother we could turn For those of you who have a mother Treasure her with care For you will never know her value Till you see she is not there To hear her voice To see her smile To sit and talk with her awhile To be together in the same old way Would be our dearest wish today THOMSON IN THE PARK FUNERAL HOME AND CEMETERY 1291 McGillivray Blvd. - 925-1120
